Esther & Silas met in the summer of 2012 at a staff conference. Both work for a Christian organization called Power to Change however, Silas is based on Ontario and Esther in British Columbia. They had heard of each other through work but nothing beyond a name and a job title! During the conference, Esther and Silas met at breakfast in the hotel and ended up sitting beside one another. Silas remembers Esther as “welcoming, engaging, and personable.” Also that “she made a distinct impression on me and I walked away to go to main session thinking about turning around to see her. For the rest of the week of the conference I was observing her interact with other people and their kids.”
Following their first meeting, Silas was out to lunch with some mutual friends. They inquired about Esther… asking if there would be any interest there. Silas hinted at a yes and those same friends later invited a group to hang out, including Esther and Silas, of course! Soon, the conference weekend ended and Silas was left with his next steps – how to make his interest known. After returning to Ontario and talking to more mutual friends of Esther’s there (connections everywhere!) Silas was encouraged to reach out and email Esther.
Emails were reciprocated and turned into Skype chats and finally on the 1st of September Silas asked Esther to be his girlfriend and booked a flight out to Vancouver to visit! These two have been long-distance dating ever since (isn’t that admirable?) and are set to be wed next April in Vancouver. I am very excited to be their wedding photographer at Westwood Plateau! Congrats, you two!
