Jenelle and Jordan, what a beautiful day you two had. I had so much anticipation for this wedding. The week before the big day, Jenelle & I met for coffee (our first meeting before the wedding as they opted not to include an engagement session) and what started as talking about the timeline turned into friend-chatter. I really enjoy this girl. And of course, still being so fresh from my wedding day, I have a renewed excitement and energy about weddings in general like never before.
Before we go into the events of June 28, 2014… a little background information. Jenelle and Jordan met while attending a beach volleyball camp in the summer of 2006. They were 13 years old. A few months later, Jordan transferred to Jenelle’s high school. As “fate” would have it, their last names are very close in the alphabet. For the first few years of high school, their lockers were a few feet apart. Until Grade 11, when they found each other side by side. In 2008, Jordan asked Jenelle to be his date. To the high school Christmas banquet. She said yes. But it wasn’t for another year and a half that they “talked” about anything officially on a walk around a lake in Abbotsford. The first official date was in April 2010 and they’ve been together ever since. Engaged since November – these two were ready and excited to finally be husband and wife.
The wedding day started at a family friend’s beautiful townhouse in Coal Harbour. I loved all of the white walls and clean space to work with while we were shooting details. Jenelle’s beaded gown fit her like a glove. I was seriously in awe of it – and the matching Nine West sandals!
Jenelle’s bridesmaid dress choices were equally as stunning. Loved this forest-green colour and how it complimented brunettes, blondes & redheads alike – all of whom were represented in the bridal party. ;)
Jenelle’s nephew and ring bearer Jadan was the star of the morning.
Jenelle was so calm on her wedding morning, helping her bridesmaids into their dresses, even kneeling to fasten shoe straps.
Then it was time! The best time! (Okay, one of the best times.) When everything becomes real and it’s time to put on your dress. Jenelle’s mom said it best when she remarked, “This is it! It’s no longer a dress fitting appointment anymore.”
Look at that beaded back!
Classic and elegant.
Jadan had a little dance-party to himself pre-ceremony.
I loved watching the relationship between Jenelle and her father. Adore these candids on our way back to the townhouse after some family photos in the lobby. Full of joy!
I was pumped when Jenelle and Jordan inquired about a wedding at Law Courts Inn in Vancouver. It’s a super unique ceremony backdrop and I was determined to take full advantage of it! Love the cascading ivy wall.
That’s Jenelle’s grandmother on the left, 94 years old, admiring Jordan admiring his bride from afar.
Another “highlight” moment of the day for me. You’re married!
The joy these two had all afternoon was infectious. Their bridal party was also a dream to hang out with + photograph! Made my job easy.
There’s a story behind the following photo… as we were walking from the Law Courts to the Vancouver Art Gallery we passed this little buddy on the bench waiting for his bus. Or so we thought. As we walked he yelled out something to the tune of, “ENERGY FOR ALL. Free energy!” We kept going. A couple minutes later, he shows up around the corner at our photo location. Beating his drum, rocking his rainbow hat and yelling, “Energy should be free! Do you feel creation moving? Energy! Don’t listen to the government!” Ok, I’m paraphrasing, but he said energy and creation a lot. The bridal party started to giggle and as they laughed more and more he beat the drum louder, “THAT’S THE KIND OF ENERGY I MEAN.”
It was a good moment.
Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs.!
There were five speeches that evening, from Jenelle’s sister/maid of honour, all of Jordan’s groomsmen, Jenelle’s parents, Jordan’s mom and sister and finally, Jenelle’s brother. I loved hearing what they had to say about these two.
Happy honeymoon, Jordan and Jenelle! Excited for all your future and your marriage holds.
