Alyssa and Seiji met nine years ago, at Buntzen Lake, with a group of mutual friends. They hung out, played volleyball, did teenagers-hanging-out-at-the-lake things. But it wasn’t until a few years later that Alyssa and Seiji really started to get to know one another. Natural scenery and showcasing beautiful British Columbia was a very important piece to this couple about their wedding day. They met a lake, they got engaged at a lake… only made sense to get married at a lake! They love being outdoors and exploring new hiking trails. Seiji is an avid fisherman, too! Last August he asked Alyssa to be his wife at Jones Lake just outside of the Chilliwack/Hope area. It’s accessible by logging roads only and although it was remote and a bit of an adventure to get there – they knew this was their spot. I couldn’t wait to see it.
The day started with Alyssa preparing at a rental home in Harrison Hot Springs. Alyssa didn’t have a wedding party – the wedding only had ten guests! But she enjoyed quality time with her mom, sister, sister-in-law and niece.
Alyssa and Seiji chose to have a First Look at the base of the lake, although their ceremony was only ten minutes after these photos. They still wanted that moment. I loved it. Seiji was so, so, so excited and kept saying, “You are GORGEOUS.”
They had the best mountain view from their intimate ceremony. Alyssa’s parents both walked her down the short, beach aisle and guests looked on from their comfortable lawn-chairs. The weather was perfect, the water, calm and clear and the vows, written by the couple and heartwarming and funny. ;)
I am so glad I caught the following sequence.
There was champagne toasts planned following the ceremony… but in the switching of cars to trucks (to get up the logging roads) the champagne flute bag was left behind. No problem. Pass the bottle around?
I love their smiles.
Loved celebrating with you Alyssa and Seiji! Thank you for choosing me!
