Mandy and Matt grew up together in the same small(ish) town in the same church and the same youth group. They were casual friends… but the two year age difference between them meant a friendship never progressed past a few hangouts. When Matt went away to college for a couple years, he came home for the summer and found Mandy newly single. They started hanging out with friends and even went on a picnic one day – just the two of them. Mandy was busy, getting ready to embark on her own college adventure outside of their town, as well. She didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until a year later when Mandy was home from school that these two became “official.” But, they had one more year of school apart from each other before Mandy and Matt could be in the same place, at the same time, for good! Mandy graduated in May and this past November, Matt proposed.
My husband Randy, grew up in the same town as Mandy and Matt on Vancouver Island. Randy was a youth leader for years in their church and knows Mandy really well. I know he has a lot of respect for the woman Mandy is and how she prioritizes her life. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Mandy as well – seeing her at church when we visit Courtenay/Comox and in the summer, Randy, Mandy (hey that’s fun rhyming) and I chatted over Starbucks together. I’m honoured Mandy and Matt chose me to be their wedding photographer and I look forward to capturing their wedding day in May!
Such a sweet couple! Love them both!
