Engagement Session

Deer Lake Park Engagement Session

During her last year of university, Kerrie started working as a hostess at a restaurant downtown. On Kerrie’s second week of work, a man named Ryan walked in before opening dinner hours. Ryan was a regular customer, as the restaurant was near his office, but Kerrie didn’t recognize him. He strolled into the restaurant and upon seeing Kerrie, proclaimed, “Wow, you’re stunning!”

Kerrie laughed but thought little of his remark; this wasn’t the first time she’d encountered bold, charming men at work. Ryan walked over to the bar and called Kerrie’s manager over. Turns out, Ryan dropped by to thank the restaurant manager for hosting a business function the evening before. A few minutes later, Kerrie’s manager walked up to her, “Go sit down with Ryan and have a chat. He’s a great guy.”

Kerrie did as instructed, although she said it didn’t take much convincing: she was attracted to Ryan first sight, as well. The two sat at the bar and talked for a bit. When Ryan heard Kerrie was studying Architectural History in school, being in the Design and Construction industry himself, Ryan called out to the manager, “You’re invited to the wedding! We’re getting married!”

A few dates and a handful of years later, Kerrie and Ryan are indeed getting married. I’m thrilled to be their wedding photographer for next July. I know their Vancouver wedding will be absolutely stunning. (I personally can’t wait to see Kerrie’s custom designed gown!)

P.S. Kerrie’s beautiful hair & makeup is the work of Taryn Ronning.

We found the perfect locations at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby. I love this tree!

Kerrie and Ryan’s style is classic to a tee. I love it.

Oooh, this light and this background. I love this!

They call it “golden hour” for a reason, people! So beautiful.

A portrait to let Kerrie’s diamond shine.

We concluded the session right near the water, strategically dodging boy scouts in their canoes. ;) I love this soft, evening light.

And one of my favourite images of the session to end the post… Kerrie and Ryan, you two are fit for a billboard. I love this image.
