Phoebe and Jacky were married this past Saturday at Westwood Plateau Golf Course! The day began at Phoebe’s family’s home, just a few minutes down the road from their venue. The bridesmaids lined the driveway as Jacky and his groomsmen arrived for ‘door games’ – a Chinese tradition where the groom has to ‘win’ his bride through challenges. After a few hilarious games and of course, bartering with money, his car (Phoebe’s friend said, Really, you’re giving me your car? Jacky said no, I’m giving Phoebe my car. The bridesmaids said that wasn’t a good enough offer, haha.) – finally, Jacky was allowed to see his bride, Phoebe!
There were two tea ceremonies in the morning, one with Phoebe’s family at her family’s home and one with Jacky’s family at Westwood. The family and wedding party was so animated and fun to photograph all day long. I loved it. The ceremony took place outdoors on the lawn at Westwood Golf Course and it was gorgeous! I love the trees on the Westwood property… it provided beautiful shade for the ceremony photos, too. We struck the best light for the portraits of Jacky and Phoebe and the wedding party. I loved it. In the past, there’s always been bright sun during portraits at Westwood but we had this amazing cloud cover. It kept shifting every 60 seconds, so we had some funny moments jumping from side to side to get the light right during portraits. But I love what we captured! Phoebe and Jacky are so cute.
The reception was a highlight for me. Jacky and Phoebe played a handful of games with their wedding guests and the room couldn’t stop laughing. Even better for me, I don’t speak the language all of the games were in – so I was left guessing what guests were yelling and laughing about. I loved it – because it proved to me how emotion doesn’t need language. So happy to have been there!
P.S. Thank you so much to Rebecca and Kenneth (Kenneth is Jacky’s brother!) for their referral. I really appreciate it! Also, it was so fun to see Tin and Bobo who I had photographed last year as well. Both couples now have adorable babies and I was so excited to meet them both!!
Hahah, how awesome is this dog?
Very creative, boys. Well done, haha.
Love how the bride gets to watch the Door Games through Facetime lately! So many weddings do this, so fun.
Phoebe opted for a red evening gown over a traditional Chinese dress for the tea ceremony portion of the day… and I loved how it flowed.
Sweetest.
These shots always turn out to be some of my favourites!
How perfect are these mountains? The luckiest ‘cloud cover’ that day!
Congratulations, Jacky and Phoebe!! All the best to you!
