I arrived at Clara’s family home Saturday afternoon on a hot, breezy day! All the windows and doors were open and the sunlight bounced off of the white walls. A few minutes later, Clara arrived ready for the tea ceremony and minutes behind her, Tristan approached the home to see his bride! Clara + Tristan had their first look right outside the home and I loooove those photos.

 

A tea ceremony with close family took place upstairs, before the group paused for lunch with extended family in the living room. Next, it was onto portraits down by the water in Steveston with the wedding party before the Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club ceremony and reception. 

 

Clara planned such a beautiful bright, happy day. I loved the pops of yellow against the soft grey; suited the summer wedding perfectly and a reflection of her sunny personality! Following plenty of time for relaxed portraits in Steveston, we went to Mayfair Lakes for the ceremony! Clara + Tristan chose to have the ceremony in the reception room, so guests could stay seated at tables during the celebration.

 

Immediately following the ‘first kiss,’ lion dancers entered the room, to the surprise of guests! It was a colourful, beautiful dance and Clara & Tristan fed the lions lettuce to signify good fortune and wealth. The lions ‘digested it’ and spit it back at them before handing them two red scrolls for good luck. 

 

So many personal touches in this family-centric reception! Lots of singing, dancing, flossing (I thought this was a dental hygiene practice until a couple weeks ago…) and unique elements like a cake smashing (pinata! instead of cake cutting) and a custom bubble tea bar.
