A couple weeks ago, I was delighted to hear from Abby & Richard who were planning to get married on the rooftop of The Vancouver Club. I had been keeping the August 18th weekend ‘free’ for a much-needed break halfway through wedding season… but when Richard let me know their wedding was: a) at The Vancouver Club and b) only required 3 hours of photography coverage… I was sold.
We chatted on the phone a couple times before the wedding day to sort out details but I didn’t know what to expect on their wedding day! I immediately loved Abby and Richard when I saw them in the lobby of the Pan Pacific Hotel. Abby was wearing a gorgeous pink floral cocktail gown with bright red heels. Richard was styling in a Brooks Brothers suit with a rich green tie.
We walked the two blocks from Pan Pacific Hotel to The Vancouver Club, to start an hour of portraits before their family arrived for the ceremony. These two kept me laughing the whole time! From the moment Abby was engaged she wanted a smaller wedding, where Richard and her could be themselves. “An Italian-Indian wedding? It would be 400 people! We knew small was the way to go for us.”
Their ceremony took place on the rooftop of The Vancouver Club, and again, the staff outdid themselves! The space was set up beautifully, and I swear there was 8 staff members helping the 15 person wedding happen? The Vancouver Club goes above & beyond: holding it’s #1 spot as my favourite venue in Vancouver. (Thank you, Louise and team for your work!)
When the officiant was delayed and the ceremony needed to be pushed an hour, Abby and Richard took it in stride, dancing to music with family, enjoying appetizers and drinks and shrugging their shoulders. “What can we do about it?” With their positive attitudes, I know they’ll make a powerful match together as husband and wife!
Abby and Richard, SO fun to meet you both. A total joy to be your wedding photographer and I’m thankful you picked me! Can’t wait to show you more images of your wedding day, for now, here’s a sneak peek!
