Stanley Park Pavilion Wedding

Today I’m sharing one of my favourite Stanley Park Pavilion Weddings from Summer 2019. (Yes, long before the Covid-19 pandemic began!) Usually, I prefer to share my clients’ weddings here on the blog within a few days, but Alexa and I chose to keep this wedding under wraps as we submitted to magazines for a potential feature.

So here we are, almost a year and a half later, and I’m so excited to share Alexa and Patrick’s phenomenal wedding with you. (Again, all of these wedding photos were taken on August 31, 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic.) PS. I feel like it’s extra-special looking back to a full venue full of guests and dreaming about what 2022 and beyond will be for us. :)

I’ve worked with Alexa (who’s a wedding planner with Dream Group Productions) many times on wedding days, and I was so excited when her and Patrick chose me as their photographer. I knew every detail of Alexa & Patrick’s wedding would be carefully thought-through and executed perfectly, but wow, the day still blew me away in every way!

Alexa and Patrick got ready for their day alongside their wedding party at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. They saw each other for the first time in an emotional meeting on the Grand Staircase at the hotel, before joining their wedding party in Stanley Park for portraits.

The ceremony space outside Stanley Park Pavilion was decorated with extravagant bouquets of white hydrangeas, white roses and eucalyptus, designed by Flowerz by Koncept. Alexa walked down the aisle towards her groom with her dad on one arm, and her step-dad on the other. Alexa and Patrick wrote and exchanged their own vows, sealed them with a kiss, and walked back down the aisle to cheers and congratulations of loving guests.

Following the ceremony, guests were welcomed inside the Stanley Park Pavilion to indulge in a flute of champagne from the “Sip and Seat” display, a delicate, gold art-deco shelf in the lobby. Each flute was tied with a calligraphed tag labeled with the guest’s first name and their table number.

The reception hall was arranged with three long tables, and a sweetheart table at the end for the bride and groom. Dramatic floral arrangements covered the room and every table featured a runner of white flowers and elegant greenery. My favourite touch was the greenery secured on the walls around the reception space, which tied the entire design together and gave it a minimalistic greenhouse feel. Every guest’s plate was set with macarons, a nod to Patrick’s francophone heritage.

After dinner and speeches, Alexa and Patrick shared their first dance together to a soundtrack before pulling back the curtains and revealing the Dr. Strangelove Band for the dance party. With an open bar, guests danced the night away, enjoying the live music. As the night came to a close, guests received a framed and printed portrait by The Near And Dear as an additional favour… and Alexa and Patrick left their reception: eyes set on their Italian and Grecian honeymoon to come!
