This Summer, my husband and I had the awesome opportunity to visit Malibu Club on the remote Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. Malibu Club was developed and opened in the 1940s as a private resort, frequently visited by celebrities in the resort’s early years. However, the volatile weather and remote location proved to be a challenge for the resort’s financial success. In the early 1950s, the private resort was sold to a youth organization and ever since, it’s been used as a youth camp in the Summer, and a retreat centre during the school year.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Malibu Club wasn’t able to operate youth camps in 2020 or 2021–and they opened up their calendar for Summer retreats or private bookings. Our friends Eric and Melody decided to organize a week away together with 40 friends and family, to celebrate Eric’s 40th birthday year. We were honoured to be included, and I was even more honoured when Eric asked if I would be willing to capture their vow renewal. Of course I said, “Of course!”
Eric and Melody shared beautiful vows, a continuation and re-commitment of the promises they made over seventeen years ago–this time, with their two daughters present. It was one of the most powerful “weddings” I’ve ever been a part of, and absolutely left me wanting to find more clients looking for vow renewal photographers. :) Thank you for trusting me to capture this day for you both!
