Lauren and Derek met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel in April 2019. After messaging back and forth a bit, they met up for drinks and appetizers at Steamworks in Gastown. They hit it off right from the beginning–Lauren remembers telling her friends after her first date with Derek that it felt so right and natural, and she couldn’t wait to see him again.

Similarly Derek knew that first night that they had “something special.” On his Skytrain commute home, Derek considered playing it cool and waiting a few days to reach out to Lauren post-date… but he couldn’t wait! The rest is history :)
