Engagement Session

steveston engagement session: gloria&roy

gloria remembers the first time she met roy. he was sitting in their college cafeteria, with a friend of gloria’s. they were introduced, they chatted a bit over lunch and before going their separate ways, roy asked for gloria’s phone number. she gave it to him, but not before asking, why?! and he answered, because you’re funny and i think i’d like to hang out sometime. over the next few months on campus, they began to randomly run into each other. gloria says in her years at college she never ran into anybody she knew consistently–but she kept running into roy. always in between classes, never enough time to chat. and he still never called her. roy transferred to another university and six months passed with zero contact between the two of them. gloria was hanging out with a friend one afternoon for lunch, which turned into a full-day hangout with a larger group of friends that evening. well, who walked in that night as a friend of one of gloria’s friends? roy! he remembered gloria as soon as he heard her name but gloria honestly didn’t until she saw his face and thought, ahhh, that’s the guy who never called me. ;)

after that evening’s hangout roy asked for gloria’s email. and they started chatting online. a few months of group hangouts and a friendship grew into something much more. gloria remembers one may weekend in particular, waiting in line for hours for the new star wars movie. the two chatted for hours and since that weekend, talked or hung out almost everyday. but still. they were just friends. as the summer passed, roy was there for gloria through a bad break-up, rushed home from work for her twentieth birthday, drove around for hours house-hunting for her mom. one day, they went to see another movie together. as friends. but then roy kissed her, saying: things will never work out the way you hope if you don’t even try–and it worked out just as he hoped it would. gloria writes that, we’ve gone through ups and downs in our relationship plus two break ups, but each step we took we grew closer and closer to one another and i just can’t wait to finally be husband & wife.

    Dear Gloria’s dress,
Could you come jump in my closet? Thanks.

    Sincerely,

  2. Love these Jamie! This couple is so cute! My favorites are the one of them walking on the bridge and she’s fixing her hair (I LIVE for those natural moments during a photo shoot!) and the one where they are sitting down looking at each other and there is a little bit of sun flare in the picture. Great job, they are amazing!

Dear Gloria, I think the last time we met you were a secondary student so probably you need some time to recall who I am (hint: we have the same birthdate). Your mom sent me this blog, and I am very happy to see these lovely pictures showing the young adorable couple, my congratulations to you two. With best wishes….Theresa
