Engagement Session

north vancouver engagement: joanna&alex

i met joanna for a j.j. bean coffee on main street a few months ago to chat about her september wedding. our conversation centered around their unique colour scheme [aqua blue and a burnt orange–so so excited to see this,] all her DIY ideas, her background as a graphic designer and then drifted towards her fiance alex: the reason all of this wedding talk was happening. ;) alex, a man she had met eight years ago but had only been dating for six. they knew each other for two years, hung out occasionally in groups of friends but it wasn’t until a camping trip to tofino that things clicked for alex and he asked joanna out. joanna explains, i think he was surprised… because i guess i don’t give off an outdoorsy vibe. i like to dress up. but i can fend for myself. alex explains at our engagement session, it was absolutely pouring rain. there were talks of calling the coast-guard for a rescue. joanna was not calling the coast guard. i definitely was not about to call the coast guard. she was impressive. tough.

it was rad meeting joanna for the first time, connecting with her over our love of art, design, DIY-details and funky colour schemes… and then seeing her with alex. these two come alive together. i love that. two people that are better together, happier together, more full of life together, stronger together. alex and joanna turn into children together–and i mean that in the best, most romantic way. in between photos they were cuddling and laughing and saying silly things–made my job the easiest thing of life. they also picked out this gorgeous location for our shoot together–i felt like i was in another world. a world full of bubbly creeks, rickety suspension bridges, the tallest trees, rocks of every shape and shade of gray. perfect background. i can’t wait to spend a september weekend in tofino to celebrate joanna & alex’ love.
