The Vancouver Rowing Club holds a very special place in the heart of Alex’s family. When they first immigrated to Canada from Wales years ago, they settled in the city of Vancouver. Alex’s parents soon became members of the rowing club, set right near the water in Vancouver’s pride and joy, Stanley Park. The club, as Alex’s Dad joyfully reminisced during his toast, holds countless memories of great times: Saturday nights spent laughing with friends & mid-week get-togethers over drinks. When Kandace visited Vancouver to look for a wedding venue last year, she knew she should probably check out the Rowing Club… for Alex’s family’s sake. Turns out, she fell in love. She fell in love with the view, the light colour scheme & the family history the walls contained.

The water is a big part of Kandace & Alex’s relationship, and consequently, it was a big theme throughout their wedding. Although Alex and his family are from Vancouver as I have explained, Kandace is American: originally from Nebraska. Alex moved to the U.S. to become a part of the U.S. Navy and it was in Virginia that Alex met Kandace. Kandace was in the Navy as well for a time and most of their friends that traveled to Vancouver from Virgina work in the Navy too. I loved how they incorporated the theme throughout their wedding with the blue and white details, little sailboat favours and nautical cake. Kandace and Alex, thanks for having your wedding in Vancouver! ;) So glad to have photographed it. Enjoy!
