I came home from shooting Annik & Rob’s engagement session with a smile on my face and happy in my heart. (I learned that little line from Lindsey instructing Beckham after a time-out partway through our family session. “Smile on your face and happy in your heart, now!”) These two booked me via email earlier this year for their September destination wedding in Kelowna at Summerhill Pyramid Winery which meant our Friday evening session was the first chance we had to meet! The sun was shining, the temperature perfect, the beautiful farm fields calling our name. ;)

These two have a really great story. It was only last year when a friend of theirs asked if either would be open to a blind date. “They knew someone great.” Both parties said yes and Rob and Annik met for coffee. Rob said he had been on a lot of terrible blind dates… and Annik added, “I had never been on a blind date, but I certainly had been on a lot of terrible dates!” (Blind or not, a terrible date is a terrible date. Or a good story for your next date.) Neither expected much from the coffee, but they talked for four hours and were pretty much inseparable from day one.

Annik told me, laughing, “One of my friends got engaged after six months and I thought she was crazy! But then we MOVED IN after four months and were engaged at ten months! It’s so different when it happens to you!” Indeed it is… I’m a fan of fast relationships, if the emotional depth and honesty and openness is there right from the beginning! [That’s secretly what I love about blind dates. You’re both showing up with an attitude of “Let’s see if a relationship could work.”]

Rob is giddy over his wife-to-be Annik and Annik is equally enthralled with her husband-to-be Rob. You see it in their eyes, in how they kiss, in how they hold hands and look at the other while they talk. Annik is also my kind of girl… she loves a clean house, a rainy day with tea, The Notebook, HGTV, Food Network, traveling and country music. She’s teaching Rob to love it. [Thatta girl. It’s the best.] Final fact before we move onto the photos… these two win the award for “closest clients!” Our homes are about three blocks apart in Langley.
