Gastown Engagement Photos

Anny and Jacky are getting married!

Jacky and Anny met while attending the University of British Columbia nearly nine years ago. They grew up in the same city and had a few mutual friends, but their paths had never crossed. One of their mutual friends, Gary, suggested to Jacky that Anny would be a great fit for the Student Club he was the director of at the time. Jacky agreed to interview Anny for the committee, an interview Jacky remembers, wasn’t really much of an interview – as he had already promised Gary to accept Anny. Haha!

Well, turns out Anny was accepted not only into the club, but soon after into Jacky’s heart. The pair continued talking for the next several months and saw each other almost every day, until Jacky finally worked up the courage to ask Anny out on March 10, 2008. A few days before Christmas in 2015, Jacky proposed to Anny while on vacation in Mexico, on a dock in the middle of a storm. She said yes!

Jacky and Anny are referrals from my past clients Carmen & Trevor and Alvina & Jonathan. I was really excited to meet them in Gastown for their engagement photos last week and I loooooove what we created together. Jacky and Anny are truly a delight to spend time with. They are really easy to talk to – and I love how comfortable they are together.

Enjoy the images!

Anny was envisioning an ‘old world’ feel to their session. She wanted lots of black and white images, a romantic Gastown backdrop and total sophistication. I think we achieved it! ;) Although we may have not felt sophisticated at the time, dodging tourists, coach buses, delivery vans and lots of people – we did it!

Anny has the prettiest laugh – I kept getting mad at her for covering it up! Hahaha!

For the second look of their engagement session, we went for something totally different. I scouted this gorgeous spot in Coal Harbour that was perfect. The orange/red leafs suited the light-coloured palette of their clothing so well. Obsessed!

Yes! A few laughing photo successes… ;)
