emma and aaron first met at a beach volleyball training camp on canada day weekend, five years ago. they both noticed one another from afar — but as aaron tells the story, emma was one of the girls that always seems to have another girl close by so we didn’t really talk too much together. it wasn’t until the ferry ride home from vancouver island where emma & aaron sat next to one another, shared an iPod–bonded over similar tastes in music–and got to know one another.
throughout emma & aaron’s [almost] five years together, they’ve always had distance as a factor. emma has traveled all over to model [paris and sydney, to name a few cities] & even when she is in vancouver, their homes are an hour apart. [her closer to the city, aaron out in good ol’ langley. represent!]
i love their relationship — some of the little tidbits they shared with me on their questionnaire include that they love dinner dates. aaron cooks, emma bakes. [apparently her first meal as a girlfriend included frying sliced deli meat — aaron took over the cooking as soon as he could.] the three things aaron loves about emma are: she understands who i am & complements me very well, she is extremely driven & puts her entire heart into everything she does, she shows me & tells me she loves me the minute i walk into the room. emma loves that: he makes me a better person. he is strong in his faith. he puts the happiness of others before his. he knows how to make me laugh. he is 6’6” and since i’m 5’9” i get to wear giant heels and he’s still taller!
they have a huge love of music, aaron is always looking for the newest band or song. [it was their first “moment” after all!] another one of emma’s favourite memories was a few months into their relationship when aaron played stephen speaks song, “out of my league” for her. emma wrote, i think i melted on the spot. look up the lyrics and you’ll see what i mean.
it’s her hair and her eyes today, that just simply take me away
& the feeling that i’m falling further in love
makes me shiver but in a good way
all the times i have sat and stared
as she thoughtfully thumbs through her hair
and she purses her lips, bats her eyes as she plays,
with me sitting there slack-jawed and nothing to say
coz i love her with all that i am
and my voice shakes along with my hands
coz she’s all that I see and she’s all that I need
and i’m out of my league once again
pretty good lyrics, i guess. ;)
i’ve done enough rambling now. emma and aaron are having a fabulous winter wedding in january 2013 at the roundhouse community centre in yaletown. they are working with corinne colledge of filosophi event planning and i just knowww it’s going to be the most beautiful day.

jamie this is such a personal question, i realise, but is it ever hard to photograph engaged couples that are your age all the time? you may be happily single, i hope so, i’m just wondering if that’s something you have learned to handle.
This is absolutely precious. I can’t get over how adorable they are. And your photography. So beautiful You are such an inspiration as a photographer, Christian woman and business owner.
Aaron…congratulations!!!! These are just beautiful and it is awesome to see wonderful things coming your way. much love…your old french teacher.
Luv it so much! She’s gorg!
gorgeous- couple, location, photography. i love the last image best of all!
I always love your work and the accompanying stories that you include – it really paints a complete picture of the couple at hand and makes them completely relate-able, resulting in happiness for the pair from all your readers! I especially love that you photographed this couple in particular! I was in several marketing classes with Aaron back at TWU and he was one of the most genuinely nice people I came across there (and there were many!). I haven’t met Emma but she looks super sweet & is drop dead gorgeous. So happy for them – thanks for sharing!

Beautiful work as always. What a lovely couple too!
I remember the day Little Aaron stood in the hall of our church as people were walking buy. He had 4 little fingers up, with out a word on his lips, to inform everyone he had reached the very big boy age of “4” You have grown up well Aaron. Along time ago since you were 4 but if I close my eyes I still see that little boy as clear as a bell. Congratulations to the both of you. Love Always your favorite Aunti Yvonne
