brock house restaurant wedding: cat&erik

catherine & erik were married on july 14, 2012 at brock house restaurant on jericho beach. their day was filled with nautical details that made their wedding very cat & erik. non-traditional and care-free, cat and erik love art, music and living life to the full. they’ve shared many adventures together over their dating years, including living in the vancouver harbour on a boat for a year. they used to take a small dinghy [the one in this post] to shore and bike to work every morning, even in the winter snow! i love their adventurous spirits.

for their honeymoon, catherine & erik are chartering a sailing boat off the coast of the carribean islands and sailing for two weeks alone. no laying on a beach for these two. a good friend of the bride’s mom [andrea tucker] designed the bride’s untraditional wedding dress, complete with jacket for the reception. cat’s shoes are from anthropologie’s BHLDN line and jewellery was borrowed from her mom. cat’s veil, all the guy’s boutenaires and the bridesmaids necklaces and fascinators were all designed by the amazing carmen west creative. wow. loved them so much! also, the piece of driftwood, carved with SS Janzen, was a gift from one of catherine’s bridesmaids the morning of the wedding. cat’s bouquet was complete with rope detail, anchors and brooches and designed by granville island florist. the nautical wedding cake was made by the uncommon cake.

after the sunset ceremony at brock house, cat & erik spent an hour mingling with their family from all over the world. erik’s whole family is from norway and catherine was born in south africa. the sand ceremony incorporated both the bride & groom’s heritage with sand from both countries becoming one. my favourite moment of this day was when cat and erik hopped in their boat before being introduced at the reception… just off the sandy shores of jericho beach. ohhh, that light. and the cheering bridal party. the warmth. the sand. the refreshing water. vancouver in the summer is the best city in the world. visit and prove me wrong. ;)

congratulations, cat & erik! have a fabulous time sailing!
