fort langley hall wedding: becca&austin

becca janz is the happiest, giggliest, disney-movie-watching, muscial-singing, princess-loving, bride i have ever photographed. i loved being with the janz family this past friday, july 20th, as their oldest daughter becca married her beloved austin. the janz’ have been in my life for years [since early high school] and there’s nothing like sharing in a wedding day with people you know and love. becca was adamant that i be her wedding photographer [even before she got engaged!] even if it meant skipping alcohol to save costs at her wedding reception. it was the cutest. i felt very loved.

becca got ready in the morning with her three bridesmaids: her sister jess as maid of honour, her best friend danielle and her now sister-in-law tessa. the bride giggled and skipped up her grandparents’ stairs when it was time to put on her vera wang dress, with her blue anthropologie flats. when we met austin in fort langley before the first look, you could see the nerves and anticipation on his face to see his beautiful bride. becca’s mom and sister fluffed her veil, straightened her dress, kissed her cheek and watched her walk towards her awaiting groom. they stood side by side, austin grabbed her hand and he turned. his face said it all. elated. infatuated. captivated. he loves this girl.

becca proclaimed many times throughout portraits, austin, i just want to kiss you all day! and i want it to be 4 o’ clock! let’s get married! 4 o’ clock came and the wedding party headed to living waters church, a couple blocks down the road from our portrait location in fort langley. becca spent her last few minutes as a single girl hidden in the church nursery, with her bridesmaids and her parents. when the girls held hands and jess prayed for becca, the tears started to fall. it was a moment full of love. 24 years of unspoken memories culminating in a teary-hug-fest. loved that.

after becca and austin promised “now and forever” to each other, it was off to the picturesque fort langley community hall for the dinner reception. the details were the cutest. very becca and austin. little touches throughout including a table numbered 9 3/4, an ode to their beloved harry potter. personalized m&m’s, hershey kisses, candy bar, sock monkey cake topper: all in bright, fun colours that spoke to their love and fun as a couple. becca, thank you for having me at your wedding. i was thrilled to have been there. austin, you have married a beautiful girl from an incredible family. i hope you two have an absolute blast on your disneyworld honeymoon. [becca, you better be wearing those minnie mouse bride ears!]

ps. isn’t this fun? photographed becca in june 2009. just for fun. wow, long time ago.
