Faezah & Anjum’s wedding day. Absolutely beautiful. From the moment I pulled up at Faezah’s parents beautiful West Vancouver home, I knew it was going to be a day unlike any other. I climbed the stairs up to the front door, turned around and looked out onto the horizon, where I was greeted with an incredible view of Stanley Park and the entire skyline of Vancouver. Talk about a location! Inside I watched as family scurried about getting last minute details together for the Nikah ceremony that was to take place at Faezah’s family’s house. Over a hundred guests were in attendance for the morning ceremony and lunch to follow.
I loved seeing the contrast between the quiet Nikah ceremony, and its muted colours, with the fun Mendhi ceremony a few nights previous: dancing, loud, energetic music and bright, vibrant colours. A few things were in common between the two days of celebration. First off, Faezah & Anjum’s excitement about the whole event: they were so radiant together! And secondly, the FOOD. The food was absolutely amazing–pretty sure I could eat it everyday and not get sick of it. It was that good. To Faezah’s family, thank you for feeding me so well. ;)
Faezah is one of the most beautiful brides I have ever photographed. She’s stunningly photogenic (though she denies it!) and I had so much fun photographing Anjum & her on the rooftop of the Fairmont. This couple made me laugh so hard; seeing them interact and laugh and joke together made me smile. I also have to write a little bit about Faezah’s fantastic shoe choices: Manolo Blahnik for the morning and Miu Miu for the evening reception. What more could a girl ask for? Super fun to photograph all the little details that went into this wedding. Last but certainly not least, I have to talk about the evening reception: an awesome party for 400 guests at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. The ballroom took my breath away! A big blog shout out goes to Lisa Gregory and her whole team at Lisa Gregory Weddings for doing such a stunning job. Truly. Wow. Such a pleasure working with them.
To Faezah & Anjum, thank you for trusting me with your day. Thank you for seeing what I photograph and loving what I do, and in turn trusting my creativity, venturing to whatever location caught my eye. That means the world! It was such a treat to learn about your story and what brought you two together. I wish you both all the best in your life together in Kentucky. And you can bet that anytime I find myself in Kentucky in the next years, I’ll be calling to say hello. ;) So much love to you both! Enjoy.
