May 21st is a special day to Sara & Jared. Sara said “Yes, I will!” to Jared on May 21st of last year, and this past weekend, exactly one year later they were married at the beautiful Swan-E-Set Resort Golf Course. When I arrrived and found Sara in the bride’s getting ready room, I was immediately showered in love as her mom and aunts exclaimed, “You’re the photographer! Ohh! Jamie! So good to meet you!” and hugs were all around. It was pretty much the best way to start a wedding day. We were all laughing and chatting and somebody says, “I can’t believe you’re only 18!!!” Sara interrupts and says, “She’s actually 19.” And I added, “Yes, and 20 soon!” Haha! Too cute.

That morning reminded me why I value the engagement session experience so much. Sara & Jared booked me online, so when we met for our engagement session, it was my first time meeting them both. We spent an hour creating fun photographs that are all about them & their love together. After the session, not only have the couple & I become friends but most of the family & friends at the wedding will have already seen my work and therefore trust that I’m capturing great images while I’m scurrying about the ceremony. Win-Win.

May Long weekend here in Vancouver, which usually means unpredictable weather. ;) The forecast was calling for rain and clouds and possible thundershowers on Friday afternoon. Sara & Jared were planning an outdoor ceremony but we kept our chins up and prayed for the best. Of course, we ended up with stunningly gorgeous weather: just the right amount of sun and clouds. Sara & Jared’s ceremony was all about their love and their future together under the love of their Saviour, Jesus Christ. During the cermeony, the pastor spoke about humility and I found this concept really beautiful. He said, if you enter a marriage believing that you truly got the better deal out of it all, you’ll strive to treat your partner as better than yourself. What I love about Jesus’ love (as it applies to any relationship) is that out of the overflow of thankfulness for His love and unconditional forgiveness, we can then go out and love others without boundaries: unconditionally.

Sara & Jared, thank you. Your “One Day” finally arrived and I’m so excited for you. :) Your wedding day was an awesome mix of emotional moments (you know I have the teary-eyed photos to prove it!) uncontrollable laughs during funny moments like the ringbearer falling into the shrub, dodging cars in the middle of the road as we photographed the bridal party quickly, fun dancing, lots of love and fabulous food. I always have so much fun with you two. May God bless you both so much in this upcoming year!

I’m thrilled to share another video with you blog readers, seeing as you’ve been lovin’ Faezah & Anjum‘s videos. Love Story Media was on hand for Sara & Jared’s wedding day to capture the day as it unfolded. It’s funny, Erik & I are only working together 3 times this year but those 3 times happened to be on 2 consecutive weekends. ;)
