Maritza and Steven were married this past Sunday at the beautiful Mayfair Lakes Golf Course in Richmond. The day started with Maritza in the middle of her parent’s living room, having her hair and makeup done (by the girls at All Dolled Up) and surrounded by about 30 family members. The house was abuzz with activity but I loved Maritza’s “calm” in the midst of the crowd. Her family was so sweet, insisting my two assistants and I eat food and drink green tea all morning. (I was happy to comply.) Shortly after Maritza slipped into her traditional Chinese dress, Steven and his groomsmen arrived at the house.
I love watching these two together. They have such a sweet way of communicating without words: Maritza’s wide-eyed smile, Steven’s hand on her back or kiss on her forehead. Their expressions throughout the day were perfect – hence the volume of photos in this post. ;) I’ve photographed many, many Chinese tea ceremonies but none has surpassed the emotion of Maritza and Steven’s. It was the best. The wedding ceremony took place in the afternoon, followed by portraits in Steveston and a reception back at Mayfair Lakes. The room was decorated beautifully by Rose Chair Decor – M+S made the room personal. Every table was named after, forgive me if I’m wrong, something from Star Trek? ;) All I know is that it was very nerdy and very them. Who else plays a Harry Potter themed game at their reception? These two do. Happy marriage, Maritza and Steven! Enjoy your photos.
P.S. Check out their Port Moody engagement session from last Fall. I liked it.
P.P.S. Thank you to Taryn for volunteering to tag along with Candace + I on the day.
