Oh, it feels so good to be back to work! Esther and Silas’ April 13th wedding at Westwood Plateau was officially the first wedding of the season. (…If we don’t count mine, a couple weeks before, hah!) I was a liiiitle bit nervous shooting a wedding for the first time in six months but Esther and Silas, along with their bridal party and families, made it a breeze. We were blessed with a beautiful Vancouver spring day – the blossoms were out in full force and the sun was shining!
Esther prepared for her wedding day in a hotel suite with her three bridesmaids and her immediate family. The view from the room was perfect. Everything was very calm and fun and laughter was frequent! One of my favourite moments of the morning was Esther’s Dad fastening a pearl necklace around his daughter’s neck. Esther’s Mom watched on, quietly, before coming for a hug. Soon, her brother did the same. Just a very sweet, intimate last moment before the flurry of the day’s activities.
Esther and Silas’ First Look (I love First Looks – I had one at my own!) was adorable. Photo evidence above. So, so much joy, overflowing. Excitement radiated from these two’s faces all day. Before we knew it (weddings days fly by…) it was off to Grace Vancouver to wed. Esther and Silas had a long ceremony, full of carefully planned elements unique to them. First, there was a scripture reading, next two worship hymns, led by Silas himself (I thought that was really neat!) and then a short sermon, vows, exchange of rings, communion and presentation of flowers to both mothers. Oh, let’s not forget when the register was walked down the aisle mid-ceremony to sign on a clipboard. Hahah. Everybody loved that part.
We snuck in a few cherry blossom pictures right outside of Westwood Plateau before the dinner reception. I loved all of Esther’s springy details, the floral arrangements were gorgeous and the wooden rounds for the table centres complimented Westwood’s rustic feel. When I first entered the hall to start taking detail photos I noticed a table off to the left. I assumed it was a candy buffet – but NO! A TEA buffet. This was the best thing. Esther and Silas invited guests to take one small tin and one large tin full of whatever loose leaf tea they liked – all flown in from China. You betcha I filled my tins with green tea.
Esther and Silas, gorgeous, gorgeous day. All the best to you both! Enjoy island-hopping in Hawaii, we are jealous of you! We wanna go back!

Wow Jamie! You got some incredible shots in! I am sure that E&S will be thrilled looking back on all these in the years to come! I wish I’d had someone able to capture all the little moments at my wedding like that. I guess some memories are only for the heart! Thanks for your all your hard work!
Seriously how do you blog them so quickly ?! and right after you get home from your honeymoon!!! You are soooo amazing! Do you just start early the next day and get them done all in that day?!!! Wish I could do that lol.
Can’t wait to see all YOUR wedding pics now too!
Great job like always!
Hahah, thanks Leah! Maybe I’ll do a blog post called “how I blog so quickly!” ;) It takes me about 2 hours to cull a wedding, then half hour to edit the 50 images I want for the blog post. Then an hour or so to format it!
