Heritage Hall Wedding

I have been very much looking forward to Cassandra and Jason’s wedding for almost 18 months now! Their wedding was the very first one I booked for the 2014 season. I met Cassandra and Jason for the first time at Veronica and Henry’s weddiing over three years ago now! Cassandra was Veronica’s only bridesmaid at the wedding and Jason was Cassandra’s date/boyfriend of only three months. I was thrilled to hear from Cassandra last year and to find out they were engaged.

Cassandra and Jason have been such a joy to work with and I love the Ma family and everyone in it. It was fun to see Veronica and Henry again (after their family session with little Zachary a few months ago) as well as Jasmine and Vince at the wedding. Of course, also a pleasure to see Veronica and Cassandra’s Mom! They are a fun bunch.

The day started at Heritage Hall with a tea ceremony. Cassandra walked from the apartment she was getting ready in and met Jason outside. I love the joy on her face! I really loved Cassandra’s non-traditional twists to the day, including both of her wedding dresses. Usually, for Chinese tea ceremonies, the bride wears a traditional red, tight-fitted gown. But the day before, Cassandra changed her mind. She didn’t want to wear a traditional dress. She bought a red cocktail dress instead. So cute.

I love how expressive Cassandra is. It was a gift to be able to watch her and Jason truly experience every “feeling” of the wedding day.

After the tea ceremony, Cassandra and her two bridesmaids walked a couple blocks to Veronica & Henry’s apartment to prepare for the ceremony. I adored Cassandra’s Jenny Yoo wedding dress! Pink! Short! Tradition is overrated!

Everything about Cassandra & Jason’s wedding day was FUN and stress-free. These two just wanted to have fun! To enjoy each other, enjoy their bridal party, enjoy every moment of their day. We drove down to Olympic Village for photos, also hoping for a cool breeze off the ocean (we didn’t get one, it was a hot day) and afterwards, explored a private rooftop! Jason’s groomsmen works at one of the buildings being developed in the area, the tallest one in Olympic Village. The view from the top was aaaaamaaaazzzzing. It was oh so bright up there but we made photos work! :)

Vancouver has a great mini-ferry system throughout the False Creek area. We arranged for a boat to pick us up from Olympic Village and cruised around and enjoyed the water before heading to the reception.

Seriously these two. Always laughing. Hahah.
