in between kissing and hugging and smiling and laughing with darcy, shannon turns to me during our portrait time and blurts out, i stalked him. i did. for three weeks. it was in a shakespeare class at simon fraser university that shannon first saw darcy: the cute boy. shannon’s friends clearly remember operation meet-the-cute-boy. this operation lasted for three weeks and included items like “find out where and with who the-cute-boy hangs out.” one day, darcy put an end to her stalking and asked her out for dinner.
i love couples that read together. sometimes i couple-watch at coffeeshops: each with a book in hand, silently turning the pages of their novels. it’s enjoying each other’s company without needing to talk at it’s finest. shannon and darcy are that kind of couple. ;) leanne and i spent the early afternoon at shannon+darcy’s adorable townhouse in port moody. i walked into the living room to find a complete wall of bookshelves, filled with row upon row of alphabetized books. i have to say, i think one of the most exciting things about darcy and i moving in together was combining our book collection. we couldn’t get over how great our books would look together, shannon laughed.
shannon+darcy’s july 11 wedding was perfect–from the first look to the bridal party photos to the bride+groom portraits to the outdoor ceremony–such a fun wedding day. the time with the girls in the morning was probably my favourite because i honestly feel like they are my friends. ;) shannon was the maid-of-honour in her bridesmaid’s kim’s wedding. it’s so fun to now have shot both shannon+kim’s weddings. it’s such an honour when a bridesmaid likes the experience of my photography enough to book me for her own day!
as i’ve touched on, the day had a shakespeare theme throughout, paying homage to how the couple met. it’s also clear to see that literature is both of their first loves. we incorporated this into the detail shots, which was such a fun touch. check out the ringbearer’s “pillow”–isn’t that the cutest? every table was named after a different shakespeare work, too. shannon and darcy are leaving tomorrow for a six-week honeymoon throughout turkey and greece. um, amazing! have a fabulous time away, you two, i look forward to seeing you sometime this fall! :)
