Rachael and Dallas were married at The Hangar Venue near the Abbotsford International Airport. It was my second wedding in an airplane hangar (this one was my first) and I love how the light bounces perfectly around the light, bright white space.
Rachael got ready with her girls in the morning at her Mom and Step-Dad’s beautiful home in Surrey and I loved seeing all of her details and planning come to life. Rachael and Dallas had a short engagement (just around four months, like me and my husband actually!) and I always think it’s amazing just how much planning you can accomplish in a small amount of time. Even seeing the bridesmaid dresses and bouquets in the home was stunning… when they were actually on the girls, the final look was phenomenal.
As guests were greeted and seated in the neat white rows of chairs, looking out onto an overcast view of the mountains through three evenly spaced windows, the ceremony began. Wedding party entered one by one through the side doors until it was time for the bride to enter. Rachael and her Dad appeared behind the massive hangar wall, as it was rolled up to reveal them waiting in the rain! It was dramatic and perfect. I loved it.
After the ceremony, we captured a few quick family photos with Dallas’ beautiful daughter before heading to a nearby park for some wedding party portraits. We totally got lucky with this location. I scouted it a week before and was hoping the colours/leaves stayed the same and the rain held off. We got both! It was awesome.
We returned to the hangar a couple hours before the reception, leaving us lots of time to capture a few more portraits outside the modern venue. After family photos, Rachael and Dallas had a lot of downtime to spend with guests as they arrived for drinks and appetizers. I love when wedding days are organized this way!
The entire venue space was incredible. Seriously, Rachael’s vision was a dream. The dark red/almost plum was a perfect mix with the warm lights everywhere, from the overhead chandeliers to the tealights on the tables and candles throughout the room. So warm and gorgeous!
The reception was a lot of fun, between a handful of animated and beautiful speeches by family members (both maid of honour and best men are family!), some incredible live music by Soulstream and phenomenal catering by White Table Catering.
Rachael and Dallas, I was honoured to be your wedding photographer! Thank you for choosing me!
