my dear, beautiful makaela. this is how i began the letter i typed & printed & sealed in an envelope yesterday afternoon. last night at church, makaela’s last evening at revolution youth, i delivered the letter & hugged her. many, many times. i also said, “I HATE GOODBYES!” in the same tone-of-voice that lloyd christmas used with mary swanson when he dropped her off at the airport & hugged her guts out. classic. makaela enjoyed the reference. i am sad, sad, sad to see this girl go.
i also have joy, joy, joy because i know that she is not supposed to be here for the next six months. she’s supposed to be at ywam chico. she’ll be in chico for three months & then doing the mission portion of her program in either fiji or guatemala: to be determined. this girl & i have become so close over this past half-year [fall & winter] — i have been so encouraged by our friendship & our days spent together. i am already pumped for a coffee date with her after her june 9 or 10th return date. ps. the photos at the end are with our friends kaitlyn & jenessa, who helped me out on the shoot.

These are so beautiful… I especially love the second one, the light and color tone is delightful! I hope Makaela has a wonderful time serving the Lord!
Another wonderful post – I love the use of light here. Great work, Jamie!
:) These are super cute.
You really captured Makaela’s dual joy and mischeviousness in the one where she’s smiling while leaning into her hand and looking off to the side, very Makaela. Favourite picture though, for sure the first one that is Horizontal (or first one not combined with another I guess if that makes it easier to describe). All around, each of the four girls in this album have their distinct personalities shown through the pictures! Very amazing.
I hate goodbyes :( but there’s always a peace when you know that God is guiding their steps and they are going for a reason.
Isn’t that your skirt Jams Delizzle?
