Stanley Park Teahouse Wedding

Djina and Ben celebrated their love and committed to forever together in a beautiful wedding ceremony outside Stanley Park Teahouse on June 1. Djina got ready for the day with her mom, sister, sister-in-law and friends at the JW Parq Marriott hotel downtown. For the First Look location, I chose a beautiful patch of trees in Stanley Park (I will never tire of photographing in the forest!)

Djina and Ben’s First Look moment was so sweet. They had both planned in advance to write letters to one another, and they wanted to read those letters aloud to one another privately following the First Look. Although I couldn’t hear the words they were sharing, it was a powerful moment based on their body language alone.

After photographing portraits with the wedding party in some beautiful Stanley Park locations, we went to the Stanley Park Teahouse to wait for guests to arrive! The sky was thick with grey clouds, and at one point pre-ceremony, the officiant and I got a bit nervous. The temperature cooled by 5 degrees, and the wind picked up. Given that we were right near the ocean, we had a terrible thought that the skies could open up and pour rain on the (tent-less) outdoor ceremony. Thankfully, the coordinator for the day, Vinelli from Power of Threee was more than prepared, with a box of 50 clear umbrellas for guests. Even more thankfully, there was no need for the umbrellas at all.

Djina and Ben’s wedding had a joyful, lively and social feel. It was small enough (65ish guests?) that everyone could meet everyone, but big enough to still feel like a party. I loved photographing the outdoor cocktail hour and seeing everyone enjoy themselves so much! After a toast outside by Ben’s parents, the guests were seated in the Conservatory for the reception—which included more speeches, a three-course plated meal, a cake cutting and dancing to round out the evening.

Djina and Ben were sooo fun to work with, and made my job so easy! Enjoy their Stanley Park Teahouse Wedding photos!
