Photographing Ericka and Matt’s vow renewal this Summer for their 10th wedding anniversary was a full-circle moment. I photographed Ericka & Matt’s wedding in July 2015, and now ten years later, they’re living in Vancouver with their two amazing boys. (Although they got married in Vancouver—Matt is from here—the couple was living in Toronto at the time of their wedding.)

I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph Matt and Ericka’s family a few times since their wedding, and last year, after one of their sessions, Ericka reached out to share her plans for a 10th anniversary party and vow renewal. It was such an honour to be included and thought of in this day!

Ericka got ready for the evening party with her two sisters-in-law, slipping into a beautiful Park & Fifth gown and sipping champagne! I went down to the water with Ericka and Matt for a few portraits before their guests started to arrive. As we walked, I asked Ericka when she first thought of the idea of holding a vow renewal party with their friends and family.

She laughed and said, “When we got engaged.” Ten years later, that dream came true, and I loved being there to capture it! It was a stunning (and very warm) evening oceanside, full of laughter and mingling and a gorgeous sunset. (And to top it off, it was the Celebration of Lights Fireworks in Vancouver!) I love so much of my photography career, but certain moments stand out as extra, extra special and this was one of them!
