Diana & Joris are getting married today at the gorgeous Pinnacle at the Pier hotel, but their love story started almost 4 years ago. They met while working on the Holland America Rotterdam cruise ship. Diana remembers seeing Joris for the first time, remembers exactly what he was wearing, and remembers the two conversations he attempted to have with her. She said the third conversation was a charm and they talked all night. Soon after, Joris was set to go on leave, and he was worried he’d never see her again. They decided to not keep in touch — to protect their hearts — but surprisingly, when Joris returned a few months later, they were on the same ship again! [Another cool part to the story in hindsight, Diana was set to leave the day before Joris returned on board — but her contract was extended at the last minute. Fate!]

Diana & Joris have worked on 3 different ships together and truly been all over the world. They were engaged in Aruba, they fell in love in South Africa, they had their first date in Melbourne, they were head over heels with Italy and count the Carribean one of their favourite places. Diana is from small-town Vancouver Island and Joris is from Holland. They hope to settle there eventually — one they stop cruising. Yesterday I met up with these two in Stanley Park for an engagement session, one day before their destination wedding, taking place TODAY! Can’t wait to be there this afternoon!
