Tessie had been working and living in the tiny community of Haidi Gwaii, British Columbia for 3 years… and had, in her own words “basically given up all hope of finding my partner” in the town. However, she absolutely loved her life there—so she had accepted it might mean being single!

However, in the Fall of 2019, Tessie and her neighbours were hosting a potluck dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday. “Like magic, Dale showed up!” Dale lived in Vancouver, but was visiting a mutual friend on Haida Gwaii. Tessie immediately felt that Dale was “a very special person.” The pair hit it off at dinner, exchanged numbers, and continued to hang out every day of his trip.

Over the next 6 months, Tessie and Dale made frequent trips between Haida Gwaii and Vancouver to spend time together. All was working well… until the Covid pandemic hit, and all flights were cancelled between the two destinations. Tessie had a decision to make—pack up her life in Haida Gwaii and make the move to Vancouver for Dale? She says it was a “big but easy decision” and here they are today!
