Dorothy and Patrick had a beautiful wedding day in June! I had been looking forward to their wedding day since our Zoom meeting the year before, and their engagement session at Lighthouse Park a few months prior.
These two have such a fun group of friends. The energy was high and joyful all day—and it made hanging out with everyone really, really fun. I started the day photographing both the guys getting ready, and then the girls getting ready (they were at the same hotel!) before we went to Pacific Spirit Park for their First Look.
A couple weeks before the wedding, Dorothy let me know one of Patrick’s groomsmen was going to do a “fake” First Look. I had seen this on social media before… but never photographed one of them. Honestly it was pretty cute. Patrick was very much not expecting it and doubled over with laughter after turning to find his friend Jonash in a white (unzipped) wedding dress.
What’s much sweeter (and not at all funny), is that after Jonash scurried away to take off the wedding dress, Dorothy approached for the First Look with Patrick. He nearly doubled over for a different reason, his eyes filling with tears of joy and love in an instant. It was incredibly sweet to witness the love that these two share, and have shared, for nearly 15 years. (You read that number right!)
Although their ceremony at Sage Catering had to be moved indoors due to the June rain, Dorothy and Patrick made the best of it and it didn’t damper their joy whatsoever. Their reception was a true party, full of fun speeches, games, videos and a ton of dancing. I was so honoured to be Dorothy and Patrick’s photographer for their Sage Restaurant wedding photos, and I wish them all the best in the future!
